I manage an Autumn calving dairy herd of 190 cows, with renewable energy generated onsite also. I am involved in various organizations within the agriculture industry, including the dairy coop, farmer funded research organization Agrisearch, and roles within the local agricultural show. I enjoy hiking, cycling, surfing, kayaking, getting outdoors and usually wet.

Study Overview
Intensive grassland based dairy farming relies heavily on inorganic fertilizers. Could this relance be reduced or eradicated while maintaining production and stocking rates? I want to understand the link with soil biology and a diverse forage mix. Improved nutrient utilization on farm and research alternative organic fertilizers.
