LEADING POSITIVE CHANGE IN AGRICULTURE

The Nuffield Farming Scholarships Trust is a charity organisation whose aim is to bring positive change to agriculture through the development of its future leaders, sending them overseas to learn from others and helping them share their brilliant ideas when they return home.

Since 1947, we have awarded Scholarships to over 1,000 members of the food, farming, horticulture and rural industries to study a topic they are passionate about… Could you be next?

Developing Young Talent

We are excited to announce the Nuffield Farming Next-Gen Scholarship, which will be aimed at young people aged 18-24 as part of our initiative to develop young talent. We know the challenges that young people face to establish themselves in our industry, and this scholarship will use the Nuffield Scholar network to link successful applicants directly to farmers.

The 2024 scholarship programme will be open to applicants from Northern Ireland, aged 18-24, with a demonstratable interest in the dairy industry.

"At AHDB, we relish the opportunity to work with and sponsor Nuffield Farming as they identify and support the development of the industry’s emerging leaders. We believe this is truly a win-win relationship, giving us and other sponsors access to some of the brightest minds in the industry, along with their learnings from around the globe, while helping to develop young people as they further their careers in the farming sector. Nuffield Farming Scholarships also create brilliant opportunities for collaboration across the industry, both within and outside of the UK."
Izak Van Heerden, Knowledge Exchange Senior Manager at AHDB
“We’ve been working with Nuffield Farming for over 4 years and are proud to have supported 10 McDonald’s scholars during that time. The research that is conducted through this scheme is imperative for the future of the agriculture industry - and with the support that Nuffield provides, the programme presents an incredible opportunity for those looking to initiate real change.”
Harriet Wilson, Agriculture Manager at McDonald’s UK & Ireland
“We have been delighted with all our scholars over the past seven years. We have witnessed their development over the scholarship period brought about by the skills of the Nuffield support team, the broadening of international travel and especially the camaraderie which always develops among the scholars.”

“The Nuffield Farming Scholarship Trust enables us to fulfil our objectives successfully on a larger scale than we can in the Province. It enables Scholars to access expertise and ideas from around the world which they can bring back, disseminate and apply locally. A Nuffield Scholarship also develops communication and life skills which Scholars use to positively influence progress within our farming industry.”
