Isabelle Deacon
2025 Next-Gen Dairy Scholar: I spend most of my time as a calf rearer and herdswoman managing the health and welfare of 260 youngstock and 400 milking cattle. I feed all calves from birth to 14 months old, meeting requirements to enter the dairy herd, calving at 24 months old, and work milking, drying off, and other necessities.
My main ambitions include finishing my bachelor’s degree at university and entering the dairy industry, running my home farm. I want to learn about the dairy sector and engage in training, talks, and communications to support my future and others over the next 5 years
My hobbies outside of work involve my flock of 50 sheep which I lamb during the winter months. I am heavily involved in my young farmer's club, being secretary for the past two years and vice secretary for my region. When I'm not helping run the club, I’ll compete in numerous competitions from raft racing to tug of war or attend dinner dances. I enjoy being active, running a few 5k’s for cancer research or myself, most recently in January, and walking my dog. When time permits, I like baking and travelling, exploring as many countries and cultures as possible.
